The Fiți Buni Association (“Be Good”) is a non-profit organisation in Caracal, Olt County, entered in Romania’s national register of NGOs under number 26954/A/2020. Registered seat: 125 Antonius Caracalla Boulevard, Caracal. Tax code (CUI): 42955690.
The association’s president is Nicoleta Iagăru. Father Ion Iagăru and his wife do this work together: the association calls Father Ion the initiator of its projects and an honorary member, and both of them were at the “Pedalăm în siguranță!” camp in 2025 and with the gifts taken to Vidin in 2023 and in 2026.
In 2025 the association wrote of itself that for more than five years it has brought joy and hope to families from disadvantaged backgrounds and supported children with disabilities, children capable of doing well at school, people with serious illnesses or disabilities, and helpless old people. The purpose entered in the register: raising funds for children with serious illnesses, for people with disabilities and for helpless old people, and organising trips and camps.
Its programmes, as the press has described them: Christmas and Easter gifts for children in hospitals in Olt, Dolj and Teleorman; nappies and wet wipes, month after month, for the newborns of five hospitals; the free camp “Vreau și eu la mare!”; new boots through “Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!”; the “Solidari cu copiii surzi” (In solidarity with deaf children) project (2022), hearing aids given together with Audionova and the free hearing-test campaign “Depistează la timp! Auzul tău merită grijă!”; equipment for Caracal Municipal Hospital — televisions, refrigerators, medical masks, libraries; houses bought or renovated for families in need; holiday gifts for children and old people around Vidin, in Bulgaria.
For the elderly and for poor families: gift cards on the International Day of Older Persons (2022), winter boots for 80 elderly people and people with disabilities (2023), an Easter campaign for 50 old people living alone (2026); energy-saving light bulbs for more than 150 families (2021) and straw briquettes for heating (2026); the National Food Collection, as a partner of the Regional Food Bank in Craiova (2024). Also through the association, help reached the leprosy patients of Tichilești Hospital (2021), and nappies reached mothers from Ukraine (2022).

“Smile! (Our) family loves you!”: Christmas gifts for children in hospital, for children from families in need and for the children of the Romanians around Vidin. The campaign sets out every year from the hospital church in Caracal and reached its tenth edition in 2023.

“I want to see the sea too!”: the free seaside camp for children from families without means who have never been to a camp or to the sea. In 2026 it reached its eleventh edition.

“The mărțișor of hope”: the 1 March charity fair at Caracal Municipal Hospital. Year after year, the money raised on mărțișoare has bought equipment, furniture and antibacterial linoleum for the hospital’s wards.

“I was barefoot and you gave me shoes!”: new winter boots for children who have never had a new pair. Donors choose a child from a list of sizes and give them a new pair.

Father Ion’s church stands in the hospital courtyard. Donations have brought equipment, televisions, refrigerators, medical masks, libraries and, month after month, nappies for newborns.

Houses renovated, rebuilt or bought for families living in homes about to collapse. The church or the association buys the materials, volunteers do the work, and the appeals go out on Facebook.

“Give blood”: blood drives with the parishioners of the hospital church. Father Ion organises the trip to the Blood Transfusion Centre and gives blood alongside them.

“Detect it in time! Your hearing deserves care!”: free hearing tests in the parishes of Olt’s villages, with modern equipment. Those who need it are offered evaluation, counselling and, where needed, hearing aids.

“Let us dress a child for Easter!”: new clothes and shoes at Easter for children from families in need. A minibus full of children goes shopping, and each child chooses their own clothes.

“Cycling safely!”: a cycling camp for the children with hearing loss to whom the Fiți Buni Association had given hearing aids, with Audionova: four days around Ponoarele, in Mehedinți County, in July 2025.
