- The 11th edition of the “Vreau și eu la mare!” camp; 8 new libraries in the Municipal Hospital and the Polyclinic in Caracal.

The 11th edition
Six days and five nights for children from Olt and Dolj, with a hotel, meals at a restaurant, transport on the association’s coach, a private beach and a pool. Each child gets a welcome pack: a personalised T-shirt, a backpack, a folding beach mat and a water flask.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
In May, 8 new libraries, with donated books, in the Municipal Hospital and the Polyclinic in Caracal; nine more were needed to reach every ward. Nappies and wet wipes for Neonatology, in January and in the summer.
Result: 8 libraries.
- Homes for families in need
The Fiți Buni Association answered a mother’s appeal: a new bathroom, so that her little girl, who had beaten leukaemia, could come home before school started. Floor and wall tiles, sanitary fittings, a water heater and an electric radiator were asked for.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
In January, parcels of sweets, cosmetics and hygiene products for children up to eight in kindergartens and schools in the Vidin region and for the old people of a care home in the Bregovo municipality, given by the association together with the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin. The association’s president, Nicoleta Iagăru, and Father Ion were there.
Result: 160 parcels.
- Depistează la timp! Auzul tău merită grijă!
The third edition, in January, at the Osica de Sus II parish; the fourth, in February, at Brastavățu; the eighth, on 16 May, at the Saint Nicholas parish in Pârșcoveni; the tenth, in June, at the Saint Demetrius and Saint Stephen the Archdeacon parish in Cezieni. In September a new group of beneficiaries received their hearing aids at Audionova Craiova.
Result: By September 2026: hundreds of people tested and evaluated; dozens received hearing aids.

“Fii alături de copiii internați în spitale, în perioada Sărbătorilor de Iarnă!” (Be with the children in hospital over the winter holidays!)
Father Ion and the Fiți Buni Association prepared gifts for the children in the paediatric wards of six hospitals in three counties: Caracal, Balș and Corabia (Olt), Roșiorii de Vede (Teleorman), Băilești and Calafat (Dolj). The personalised bags were picked up at the wooden church in the hospital courtyard, and the gifts were also to reach hundreds of children from poor families and from the villages of the Vlachs of the Bulgarian Timok.

The 10th edition
From 31 August to 4 September, in Eforie Nord, at the Mondial and Cristal hotels: Aqua Park Eforie Nord, Imaginaria Space, the Espinol Circus and a stop at Saint Mary’s Monastery in Techirghiol. Part of the lodging was covered by the Pepcolandia 2025 programme of Pepco Romania and the pastel Association.
Result: 26 children who had never seen the sea.
- Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!
With the support of the Strong Women’s Club, through the volunteers of the Fiți Buni Association.
Result: New boots for 100 children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
On 4 February Father Ion paid the deposit for 30 refrigerators for the hospital’s wards — “the biggest and most ambitious donation”, in his words — and began raising the rest. Through the Fiți Buni Association’s partnership with the Craiova Food Bank, the hospital received more than 23,000 medical masks in April and more than 16,000 in September.
Result: More than 23,000 and more than 16,000 medical masks.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
In January, parcels of sweets, toothbrushes and toothpaste, notebooks and pens for the children in the children’s ward of the Vidin hospital, at the Tsvyat community centre and in the villages of Major Uzunovo, Kapitanovtsi and Negovanovtsi.
- Depistează la timp! Auzul tău merită grijă!
The 1st edition
On 22 November 2025, at the Slătioara I parish.
Result: Dozens of people tested.
- Pedalăm în siguranță!
From 20 to 23 July, around Ponoarele (Mehedinți), for children with hearing loss fitted with hearing aids by the association with Audionova; the camp’s announcement spoke of 6 children.

The 9th edition
From 1 to 6 September. Among the children were children with hearing loss; two of them received hearing aids.
- Mărțișorul speranței
Mărțișor tickets at 10 lei, as winning lottery tickets: each brought a coffee, a slice of pizza or a pastry from three Caracal businesses, between 1 and 8 March. The money, raised with the Fiți Buni Association, went on televisions for the hospital’s wards.
Result: 10 televisions for 10 wards of Caracal Municipal Hospital.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
On 11 January, 18 televisions for the Paediatrics, ENT and Pneumology wards; for the first time, the paediatric wards had televisions. The campaign went on with “Mărțișorul speranței”. Nappies for the newborns of five hospitals, among them the Neonatology ward of Băilești Town Hospital.
Result: 40 televisions and 40 wall mounts, donated from the start of the year to September.

The 10th edition
At the end of November, Father Ion and the Fiți Buni Association began the collection, and the gifts were to be handed out around Christmas. On the second day of Christmas the trip to the Romanians of Bulgaria was planned: to the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin, to a kindergarten in the Romanian quarter and to several villages around Vidin.
- Vreau și eu la mare!
Children from poor families in Romania went to the sea free of charge and, this year, children from Bulgaria, from the Timok Valley, too.
- Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!
A special edition
For the first time, boots for the elderly: 80 pairs of warm boots for elderly people and people with disabilities from Caracal and the places nearby, each with a basket of Christmas gifts, in December. The deposit for the 80 pairs was paid in November.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
In early January, hundreds of parcels of sweets for the children’s ward of the Vidin hospital, kindergartens and community centres. On 24 January, the Day of Romanian Culture, a delegation of the association, led by its president, was in Vidin; Nicoleta Iagăru’s painting exhibition was for charity, for the children of the Vidin region. In the last days of December the association’s representatives handed out Christmas gifts in Belogradchik, at the Iglika kindergarten and in the town square.

For Saturday 8 April, Father Ion announced a minibus full of children going shopping.

For the first time, children with hearing loss were invited too.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 8th edition
From 20 February to 8 March: handmade mărțișoare and decorative objects — photo frames, paintings, candle holders, scented candles, soaps, flower arrangements — sold at the church and through the volunteers of the Fiți Buni Association. The money was for hearing aids for deaf children.
- Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!
An edition for hard-of-hearing and deaf children: the aim was new boots for about 10% of the hard-of-hearing and deaf children in Romania, more than 150 children. The campaign ran until mid-December, with the support of the Media10 newspaper.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
On 12 September the association’s representatives bought, with Audionova’s financial support, the nappies and wet wipes the Neonatology ward’s newborns needed for September.
- Să îmbrăcăm un copil de Paști!
On 17 April, children from Olt, Gorj and Teleorman chose new clothes for the Resurrection service, and on the same day went to a restaurant for the first time. The aim rose from 20 to 30 children as the donations came in.
Result: 30 children.

The 8th edition
From 28 November to 20 December. The gifts were packed into boxes by the association’s members, following the health rules; donations could also be made to the Fiți Buni Association’s account.
- Vreau și eu la mare!
Children from Pârșcoveni, Vlădila, Drăghiceni, Reșca, Deveselu and Caracal left for the coast by coach in September; generous believers gave them the camp free of charge, through the parish of the church of Caracal Municipal Hospital.
Result: 28 children saw the sea for the first time.

From 1 to 30 November, for 75 children — 37 girls and 38 boys — with the list of sizes published by Father Ion.

In December, a professional vegetable-cutting machine for the hospital kitchen.
- Homes for families in need
On 6 April Father Ion set out to move the family from Sprâncenata, whose mud-brick house was about to collapse, into a new home by Easter; two weeks later, through the Fiți Buni Association, the house was bought. In December, the campaign to renovate the house in Pârșcoveni where a schoolgirl is raising her five brothers and sisters had raised 32,730 lei, 54.5% of the sum needed.
Result: A house bought for a family of five, in Sprâncenata.
- Donează sânge
In August, dozens of the parish’s parishioners gave blood at the County Blood Transfusion Centre in Slatina; many have given blood for years, others were giving for the first time.
- Să îmbrăcăm un copil de Paști!
A minibus with 20 children went to the Electroputere Mall in Craiova; the children chose new clothes and shoes, and each was given a ball.
Result: 20 children.

The 7th edition
It began at the end of November. Because of the pandemic, to protect the children and their families, the boxes were assembled and filled with gifts by the members of the Fiți Buni Association. The collection deadline: 20 December 2020.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 6th edition
In February, 600 mărțișoare made by children, parents and grandparents around Vidin — Vidin, Kutovo, Kapitanovtsi, Major Uzunovo, Dunavtsi and Vrav — were sold in Caracal, and the money went back to Vidin, through the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin.
Result: 2,500 leva: 12 inhalers and two contactless thermometers for the children’s ward of the Sveta Petka hospital in Vidin.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
In August, nappies for the newborns in Neonatology whose mothers have little means; the company AGRISO joined in.
Result: 500 nappies.
- Homes for families in need
In March, within three days, a well was drilled in the yard of a family in need in Caracal, and Father Ion set out to give them a new house too. At the same time, for a mother and her seriously ill daughter, a donated studio flat, which he was to paint, furnish and fit with appliances.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
From the money of the “Mărțișorul speranței” fair, 12 inhalers and two contactless thermometers for the children’s ward of the Vidin hospital. In April, during the pandemic, reusable protective masks from Caracal, on Father Ion’s initiative: 250 for Vidin town hall, the rest for organisations and institutions.

In August, a new blood drive in Caracal, because the transfusion centres are short of donors.
- Să îmbrăcăm un copil de Paști!
“Îmbracă un copil de Sărbători” (Dress a child for the holidays)
The campaign carried on during the pandemic, for children from Caracal and the neighbouring communes.
Result: About 40 children received new clothes and sports shoes.

The 6th edition
The boxes were picked up at the hospital church and brought back by 20 December. On 23 December the gifts reached the children in Caracal Municipal Hospital.
- Vreau și eu la mare!
At the start of the school year, in Eforie Nord, at a four-star hotel: the dolphinarium, go-karting, the pool. On 13 September, the fourth day of the camp, each child was given an ie, the traditional blouse.
Result: 23 children from poor families who had never been to the sea.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 5th edition
From 24 February to 1 March: 100 small jars of papaya jam with 24-carat edible gold leaf, at 100 lei each, made by Nicoleta Iagăru, the priest’s wife.
Result: About 10,000 lei; about 250 square metres of antibacterial linoleum in Neonatology (four wards, two consulting rooms and a hallway) and in the Bacteriology and Parasitology unit (three rooms and a hallway).

In December, almost 140 pupils from Caracal’s schools, with their teachers, decorated a Christmas tree made of suction cups in the hospital’s central hall, to bring joy to the children in hospital.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
On 17 January, National Culture Day was marked in Vidin for the second year, on the initiative of the director of the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin and of Father Ion: an exhibition of drawings by pupils from two Caracal schools at the Vidin Regional Library, 40 books given by the church to the library, and visits to schools and kindergartens in villages where Romanians live.

In June the hospital’s medical staff gave blood. On 8 October the “Give a chance at life” campaign brought the mobile donation unit to the courtyard of Caracal Municipal Hospital: parishioners gave blood, as did people from the town’s institutions — the hospital, the Ioniță Asan High School, Military Unit 01871 Deveselu — and from the villages around. In October, through Father Ion’s campaign, a Caracal factory gave six mobile blood-collection beds to the Olt Blood Transfusion Centre.
Result: 200 donors on 8 October; six mobile blood-collection beds for the Olt Blood Transfusion Centre.
- Să îmbrăcăm un copil de Paști!
The plans were made at the church on 24 March, and the shopping trip was set for 20 April; poor children from Caracal and the places nearby received new clothes and shoes for Easter.

The 5th edition
It began on 26 November, aiming at 500 children, and ended on 20 December. About 800 parcels were being prepared, 200 of them for children in Bulgaria: 150 for the children of the Romanians around Vidin and 50, through the Metropolis of Vidin, for ethnic Bulgarian children.
Result: More than 700 parcels reached the children in the hospitals of Caracal, Calafat, Roșiorii de Vede, Drăgășani, Băilești and Vidin.
- Vreau și eu la mare!
From 6 to 9 September, in Eforie Nord, with lodging and meals at a four-star hotel and transport by a modern coach; on 8 September the children attended the Divine Liturgy at the monastery in Techirghiol.
Result: 22 children from six places in Olt: Caracal, Stoenești, Drăghiceni, Grădinile, Osica and Greci.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 4th edition
From 23 February to 8 March: 2,500 scratch-card mărțișor tickets at 5 lei each, 50 of them winners; the prize was a trip, on 14 April, to six monasteries of the Diocese of Slatina and Romanați.
Result: More than 10,000 lei; antibacterial linoleum in the treatment rooms of Paediatrics and ENT, and in the diet kitchen and the newborn wards of Neonatology.
- Desculț am fost și m-ați încălțat!
Within a few days Father Ion found 89 children who urgently needed boots. The Media10 newspaper supported the campaign, and boots came from all over the country and from abroad: Ireland, Turkey, Italy. On 4 November the parcels were made up at the church; the boots reached children in Caracal, in the villages around it — Chilii, Hotărani, Osica, Scărișoara, Plaviceni, Drăghiceni, Bucinișu, Vlădila — and in Corabia.
Result: New boots for 200 children, against the 90 the campaign had set out to reach.

From March, nappies bought by the church, with Brâncoveni Monastery as partner, to cover the maternity ward’s needs until the end of the year; on 10 October, new LCD televisions for the Oncology ward.
Result: 3,000 nappies; 5 televisions, worth about 2,000 lei.
- Homes for families in need
“Our version of ‘Visuri la cheie’”
The house of three children left without a father, in a village near Caracal, was rebuilt between 1 and 8 August: the church bought the materials, starting with a new roof, and volunteers from the whole area did the work.
Result: A house rebuilt in eight days.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
For 26 December, 200 parcels for children: 150 for the children of the Romanians around Vidin and 50, through the Metropolis of Vidin, for ethnic Bulgarian children. A team from IBM Romania helped with donations, and the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin was to receive a computer and a printer.

In February about 40 parishioners gave blood in Slatina, and with the meal vouchers they received they bought food for a family with six children. On 14 June Father Ion gave blood alongside 50 believers, with a coach provided by the church. On 5 November, 30 more donors, among them medical staff and nuns; Gazeta Oltului then named him its “Man of the Day” for the “Give blood” campaign.

The 4th edition
It began on 30 November, aiming at 500 children; the collection deadline: 20 December. On 26 December Father Ion went to Vidin, to 60 children of Vlach-Romanian origin, to the children of a Bulgarian village and to those in the paediatric ward of Vidin County Hospital.
Result: More than 600 gift boxes and bags, which reached 600 children.
- Vreau și eu la mare!
From 7 to 10 September, in Eforie Nord, a gift of the hospital church and its friends: lodging, meals and transport were paid for, and the places were given on social criteria to children who had never been to the coast.
Result: 25 children.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 3rd edition
From 20 February to 1 March, in the hospital’s central hall: thousands of mărțișoare made and sold by the pupils of Middle School No. 2 and of the Ioniță Asan National College in Caracal.
Result: Almost 9,000 lei; on 28 April 2017, a vital-signs monitor and medical furniture for Neonatology.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
On 17 June, at the consecration of the chapel of Saint Luke the Surgeon and Saint Petka at the Sveta Petka hospital in Vidin, the Metropolis of Vidin named Father Ion among its notable donors and awarded him the Order of Antim I; believers from Caracal were at the service too. On 26 December Father Ion took gifts to 60 children of Vlach-Romanian origin, to a Bulgarian village and to the paediatric ward of Vidin County Hospital.

The 3rd edition
From 24 November to 25 December. The announced list named the paediatric wards of Craiova, Calafat, Slatina, Caracal, Corabia, Balș, Alexandria, Roșiorii de Vede, Turnu Măgurele and Drăgășani. The gifts also went to children from disadvantaged families in Olt, Dolj, Vâlcea and Teleorman and, in Bulgaria, to the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin, the children of the Timok Valley, the paediatric ward of Vidin Municipal Hospital and the Metropolis of Vidin.
Result: 1,500 gift boxes and more than 500 gift bags.

Mărțișoare made and sold by the pupils of Caracal’s schools.
Result: About 4,000 lei; antibacterial linoleum in the diet kitchen of the Paediatrics ward and in ward room 26.

“Fii și tu prietenul copiilor aflați în suferință” (Be a friend to children who suffer too)
All summer, every week, after Vespers, adult and child volunteers brought still and mineral water to the children in Paediatrics and Oncology and to the elderly at the Caracal medical and social care centre, toys for the little ones and blessed icons for the parents.
- Homes for families in need
In October Father Ion renovated the house of a poor family with 11 children in the commune of Osica; also in 2016, two houses in the commune of Vlădila were renovated with the help of volunteers and fitted with furniture, appliances and bookcases.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
On 28 May a team of doctors and nurses from the Caracal hospital, led by Father Ion, did free blood tests in Vidin cathedral and then gave the Metropolis of Vidin a blood-sugar meter. At Christmas, gifts for the children of the Timok Valley, for the paediatric ward of the Vidin hospital and for the Romanian Cultural Centre in Vidin.
Result: Almost 100 people had their blood tested.

The 2nd edition
From 21 November to 24 December. The gifts reached disadvantaged families and people, the paediatric and paediatric oncology wards of Craiova County Emergency Hospital, the paediatric wards in Slatina, Caracal, Corabia, Balș and Calafat, social and care centres in Olt, and the children of the Romanian community in Vidin.
Result: About 1,200 personalised boxes and more than 700 bags and boxes of food, toys and clothes; the campaign’s approximate value: 40,000 lei.
- Mărțișorul speranței
The 1st edition
Volunteers — high-school pupils, children and parents — made Christian-themed mărțișoare in the hospital’s small church.
Result: Medical equipment for the Paediatrics ward.
- For Caracal Municipal Hospital
An air conditioner for the Paediatrics ward, with the help of the abbess of Brâncoveni Monastery.
- Vidin and the Timok Valley
In the summer of 2015, on a pilgrimage to the relics of Saint Kiril, Father Ion and his parishioners decided to help build a canopy for them; on 28 October the Bulgarian Patriarchate gave him a casket with relics of Saint Kiril, placed in the hospital church.
